About Us

Our Natural Environment is a Priceless Treasure

Our resplendent beaches, waters, forests, flowers and wildlife are irreplaceable assets which must be safeguarded for all Belizeans, present and future. Though young, Belize has an outstanding record on environmental matters. We take these obligations seriously and are committed to fulfilling them. We are fortunate that much of our country is still environmentally intact…and we will aim to keep it that way.

Description of Units
25 Years of Environmental Protection

Did you know that the DOE celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2017 under the theme “Celebrating 25 years of Environmental Sustainability: Protecting, Educating, and Developing Together”, which commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the enactment of the Environmental Protection Act (EPA) and establishment of the Department of the Environment.  To celebrate, the DOE carried out 25 Acts of Green to assist communities, schools and civil society groups across the country and collaborated with partners in both Government, Non-Government Organizations, the private sector, the educational system, and local governments.  Some of these Acts had included tree planting, clean-ups, educational fairs, sign placement and many more.
