PUBLIC NOTICE: Lodgement of Addendum to the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for Port of Belize Cruise Terminal

The General Public is hereby advised that an Addendum to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report for the proposed bulk handling and cruise tourism development project located in Port Loyola Belize City, Belize District, has been submitted to the Department of the Environment (DOE). The Addendum was prepared by Piedroba Consulting Group, LLC, and Nextera Environmental and Engineering Consultants with local and international scientific support. The Addendum and the EIA report will be reviewed by the National Environmental Appraisal Committee (Committee), before a final decision is taken.

The General Public is hereby informed that the Addendum and the EIA report will be available for reviewing, free of charge starting July 23, 2021, to August 18, 2021, from Mondays to Fridays during normal working hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm) at: Port Loyola Library, National Library Service, Leo Bradley Library, Turton Library Censer, all in Belize City and the office of the DOE in Belmopan. The EIA report and amendment are also available on the DOE’s website: https://doe.gov.bz/index.php/eias. The public is invited to submit comments in writing on or before August 18, 2021, to the DOE at Market Square, Belmopan, or via email address eiaunit@environment.gov.bz.

Bearing in mind the realities related to the COVID19 Pandemic, and while hard copies of the EIA report and amendment are available at the locations mentioned above, it is highly recommended that the Amendment to the EIA report be reviewed using the online options. Please practice social distancing when viewing hard copies of the report and follow the recommendations of the Ministry of Health and Wellness
